Weldon’s Midas Bearing Roller OD Grinder

Posted on: January 21st, 2016 by Rick Holberg

1047BlogPicA major rotary bearing manufacturer called on Weldon to build a roller OD grinder for a large bearing family. The machine features an X-axis linear motor for smooth transitions when grinding the crowned OD with a convex grinding wheel face in a single pass profile interpolation cycle. This allows grinding of all part numbers with the same tooling.

System Features
• Weldon long stroke programmable tailstock
• GII electric rotary dresser
• Dittel acoustic sensor
• SBS automatic wheel balancer
• Neidlein face driver
• Marposs in-process gage
• Barnes coolant system
• Turmoil coolant chiller
• Absolent mist collector
• Fanuc 32i BT CNC control

Weldon Solutions offers a full line of CNC OD, ID, and combination grinders. As a Fanuc Robotics integrator Weldon can also address your machine tending, material removal, material handling, and packaging/palletizing needs.

Weldon’s UGC Dual Spindle ID Grinder

Posted on: January 20th, 2016 by Rick Holberg

4506BlogPicA New England based fire arms company chose Weldon Solutions for a dual spindle ID grinder application. Up to three (3) IDs are ground per cycle using vitrified CBN abrasives. Although arranged for manual loading, the machine has been built “automation ready” with plans for future addition of a robotic tending system and dual pallet station.

System Features
• MicroCentric pneumatic sliding jaw chuck
• Weldon heavy-duty worked
• GMN 90,000 RPM high frequency grinding spindles
• Heidenhain rotary and linear glass scales
• Monlan PFA-80 coolant filtration system
• Airflow MP4 media type mist collector
• Fanuc 0i TD CNC control

Weldon Solutions offers a full line of CNC OD, ID, and combination grinders. As a Fanuc Robotics integrator Weldon can also address your machine tending, material removal, material handling, and packaging/palletizing needs.

Weldon’s 1632 Gold OD Punch Grinder

Posted on: January 15th, 2016 by Rick Holberg

1048BlogPicA major Ohio based sheet-metal punch manufacturer has added another Weldon model 1632 GOLD to their equipment list. This newest machine features a high-speed control system, custom software, and an X-axis linear motor, that together resulted in productivity increases of better that 80%. Notable was that the higher productivity was accomplished at a quality level exceeding current standards. In this application, punches are ground “from solid” using vitrified CBN abrasives. This eliminates the normal pre-milling to remove the bulk of the stock, eliminates the need to radially locate from a preshape to establish C-axis position, reduces work-in-progress inventory, and shortens the lead time for manufacturing.

System Features
• Fanuc X-axis linear motor
• Weldon programmable gear drive workhead
• Heidenhain Xaxis glass scale
• GII electric rotary dresser
• Dittel acoustic emissions sensor
• Encyclon cyclonic coolant filtration system
• Turmoil chiller for coolant and linear motor
• Absolent mist collector
• Fanuc 310i CNC control

Weldon Solutions offers a full line of CNC OD, ID, and combination grinders. As a Fanuc Robotics integrator Weldon can also address your machine tending, material removal, material handling, and packaging/palletizing needs.

An August Achievement

Posted on: January 14th, 2016 by Rick Holberg

It’s never too late to share! This past August, we had the pleasure of chatting with Pennsylvania’s Labor and Industry Secretary Kathy Manderino, who was on a “listening tour” of the area during which she hoped to gain more knowledge on the employer and employee needs of local businesses. Along with York County PA CareerLink, Manderino paid us a visit, wishing to highlight the various manufacturing career opportunities in Pennsylvania, particularly in reference to the hiring of young people. Taking on interview questions from the York Daily Record, she spoke openly and optimistically about the diverse manufacturing future of York and the surrounding area. We thank Kathy Manderino for paying us a visit, and we were honored to share some time with her here at Weldon!

Weldon’s P175 Automated Flat Grinding Cell

Posted on: January 14th, 2016 by Rick Holberg

BoogerA mid-western manufacturer selects the Weldon P175 for automated flat grinding, deburring, and laser engraving on cylindrical parts. The parts are presented via a dual pallet station, and loaded with a floor mounted Fanuc M10i-TD robot. Custom end-ofarm tooling is used to load the part into a 4” pneumatic sliding jaw chuck. A post-process gage communicates with the Fanuc CNC for size compensation on a trend basis. The fully automated cycle under gage control can produce roughly 67 parts per hour.

System Features
• Fanuc tending robot
• Telesis laser engraver
• Cognex camera
• ATI deburr unit
• SBS automatic wheel balancer
• Dittel acoustic sensor system
• Jenoptik post-process gage
• St. Gobain vitrified CBN grinding wheel
• Weldon Jet wheel cleaner
• MicroCentric 3-jaw chuck
• Machine mounted PC for data collection

Weldon Solutions offers a full line of CNC OD, ID, and combination grinders. As a Fanuc Robotics integrator Weldon can also address your machine tending, material removal, material handling, and packaging/palletizing needs.
